NLI DAY: QUINCY UNIVERSITY GETS LOCAL

Where better than your own backyard to grow a garden?

Second year Quincy University skipper Tom Pajic delivered on his process to make local recruiting in-roads with four homegrown signees in his Class of 2013.  That group includes Central-Southeastern All State Offensive Lineman Drew Miller, Panther teammate and reigning Quincy Herald Whig Player of the Year Dalton Heubner, former Pittsfield star Dillon Butler (who transfers from McKendree) and Quincy High Defensive Back Ethan Rockhold, who was fast to point out how proud he was today to carry the shield for Gem City Football now as a Hawk.

Tom Pajic: "This is our backyard, this is where we live, this is who we are, and there's great high school programs right across the street. They're well-coached, they've played for state titles, they have great families, they come from a great area - so why not give those kids an opportunity to play at a high level of Division 2? We feel very appreciated by the local coaches, so they're going to then entrust their young men to Quincy University because it might be a good fit. The high school coaches are the lifeline of what we do, and the local high schools in the Tri-States area, they're our lifeline of recruiting. Without those programs, we can't survive here as a Division 2 football program,">
