Ryan Parker loses every starter from a team that went to the Final Four in 2011 and is coming off back-to-back Final Four appearances. Don't cry for the Indians, however, who return the Tri State's most promising young big man in 6'7" Freshman Sensation Kenny Lesley as well as critical/highly athletic reserve Charles Fraction; not to mention highly regarded point guard prospect Rahiem Porter. On paper, the Indians might be be the most athletic team in Tri State basketball next Winter. Will that be enough to counter Reno Pinkston's coaching accumen and the return of the region's most explosive scorer in 2012 Player of the Year finalist Paxton Harmon? On paper, this might be the most intriguing game of the day.
7:30 pm QND vs ROLLING MEADOWS (girls)
Our girls marquee game pairs the two time Defending State Champions against one of the best young guards in the state in Jackie Kemph, an accomplished long range sniper who led the the Lady Mustangs to their first Mid-Suburban League Championship in four decades this past season. Kemph, the MSL East Player of the Year as a Sophomore and an Honorable Mention All State pick, and Alexis Glasgow give Rolling Meadows one of the more dynamic backcourts the Lady Raiders will see on the 2013 slate.
9:00 pm QND vs ALTON MARQUETTE (boys)
Marquette returns three starting guards in Sam Scheiter (9.8 ppg) Dtae McMurray (11.1 pgg) and Deon Lavender (9.7 ppg) from a team that went 28-3 this season, rose as high as 6th in the IHSA Class 2A Poll, and was eliminated by eventual state champion Breese Central in Sectional Play. Scott Douglas counters with the returns of star forward Alex Fitch, a solid guard core, and enough quality front court size in Connor Mellon and Matt McPherson to test a Marquette front line hit hard by graduation.
