WIU WINNOWS FOOTBALL APPLICANT POOL TO THREE FINALISTS

Quick work by the Western Illinois Football Search Committee has pared a list of more that 60 coaching applicants to just three finalists.

Which means...Your next Leatherneck Football Boss will be one of these three men

One time Western Michigan Head Coach Bill Cubit. Current Minnesota-Duluth Boss and two time Division Two National Champion Bob Nielson. And current Missouri S&T skipper David Brown, who has helped breathe new life into the Miners Program with a 16-6 mark over the last two seasons.

Give the Western folks credit: this is a decidedly strong field. Cubit brings the offensive guru credentials Tim Van Alstine has placed a premium upon in the process. Nielson has the most impressive resume, having won 78% of his career games. Brown is seen as rising commodity. Both candidates bring a strong defensive pedigree as ex-coordinators.

All three candidates are scheduled to be on campus over the next six days...and a hiring announcement is expected shortly thereafter.
