IL charities receive $70,000 from coach's award

CHAMPAIGN, ILL. (AP) -- Illini football coach Ron Zook won the 2007 Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award, which comes with $70,000 in charitable donations that Zook gets to give out.

Zook has decided to split $50,000 among five Champaign-Urbana-area charities and $20,000 in scholarship money to the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

The charities include Crisis Nursery of Urbana, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Cunningham Children's Home in Urbana, the United Way of Champaign County and Restoration Urban Ministries.

Each will receive $10,000.
