State poised to be a leader in renewable energy production
IOWA (AP) -- The Iowa Renewable Fuels Assocation says that a record has been set for biodiesel production in Iowa.
The group says that Iowa biodiesel plants produced 184 million gallons of biodiesel fuel in 2012.
That is a significant increase over the 169 million gallons produced in 2011.
The report goes on to say that Iowa is considered an industry leader in the production of renewable fuels nationwide.
The state has 12 biodiesel facilities and 14 ethanol refineries.
