GRIGGSVILLE, ILL. -- Ameren Transmission Illinois began its third and final series of open houses regarding a proposed bill to build a transmission line along three states.

The project would add a 345,000 volt transmission line spanning three states.

Leigh Morris is an Ameren Spokesman. Morris said these transmission lines will relieve congestion, fill in gaps on the transmission grid, and improve reliability among other things for the area. Morris says these meetings are important to hear from residents who may live near or in the projected path.

The proposed plan will be filed in November. A decision is expected by next July. Construction on the project would begin in 2015 with a goal of finishing in four years.
