QUINCY, ILL. -- You might want to avoid 12th and Ohio in Quincy.

The pavement buckled there on Thursday.

Area transportation departments have been warning drivers of buckled roadways due to the prolonged heat wave.

That's because excessive heat can cause the concrete can expand, which causes the pavement to buckle.
