MACOMB, ILL. -- The City of Macomb and its emergency officials are urging residents to participate in a new emergency notification system.

The city recently began using the Global Connect Emergency Notification system. The system gives municipalities the ability to call thousands of residents and volunteers within minutes.

The system will be used in the case of a water main break, approaching storms, hazardous materials spills and other events.

The phone system can only currently reach land lands. Cell phone users must register their number to be included.

Forms can be picked up at Macomb City Hall or the fire department. Anyone with questions can contact the Macomb Fire Department at 309-836-7800.
