DOT Foods driver involved in crash that killed trooper

TROY, ILL. -- DOT Foods confirmed Friday that one of its drivers was involved in the crash near Litchfield, Ill. that killed Illinois State Police Trooper Kyle Deatherage as he conducted a traffic stop on I-55 at milepost 62.

The Mount Sterling-based company and ISP have not released the driver's name.

Company spokesman Jim Tracy confirmed that the semi involved in the crash was part of their Georgia-based fleet.

"It was one of our drivers," Tracy said. "There is nothing further that I can release. The matter is under investigation."

Trooper Deatherage joined the Illinois State Police on May 31, 2009 and was assigned to Litchfield District 18’s Motorcycle Unit.

Visitation and funeral services have been planned for fallen Illinois State Police Trooper Kyle Deatherage.

The visitation is Friday, November 30 from 4:30-8 p.m. at Triad High School, 703 East Highway 40, in Troy, Illinois. An Illinois State Police Ceremonial Walkthrough will start at 6 p.m. and a General Law Enforcement Ceremonial Walkthrough will start at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral will be held Saturday, December 1 at 10 a.m. at Triad High School, 703 East Highway 40, in Troy, Illinois. Internment will immediately follow the funeral service at Marine City Cemetery.
