QUINCY, ILL. -- The League of Women Voters of Adams County sponsored a forum Tuesday, March 19 to inform voters leading up to the April 9 election.
The forum was held at the Quincy University North Campus Auditorium and was split into two 50 minute time periods.
Incumbent Mayor John Spring faced his Republican challenger, Third Ward Alderman Kyle Moore in the first half of the forum.
Mayor Spring says he kept his pledge to be a fulltime mayor for the city and maintained a balanced budget for 8 years.
Alderman Moore says Quincy needs a mayor with innovative solutions and long term plans for the city.
In the second half, candidates in the City Treasurer's race faced off.
Incumbent Democrat Peggy Crim went up against Republican challenger Tom Ernst.
Candidate Ernst said he would like to combine the treasurer and comptroller offices to be more efficient and save money.
But current treasurer Crim says that his plan would eliminate necessary checks and balances for both offices.
